FM-200 & Clean-Agent Suppression

Gas suppression that floods a sealed room and extinguishes fast without water damage — ideal for electronics and irreplaceable assets. Designed to NFPA 2001.

FM-200 clean-agent suppression cylinders

Overview

Clean-agent systems flood a sealed enclosure with an electrically non-conductive gas that leaves no residue — protecting sensitive electronics without the damage of water. Governed by NFPA 2001.

Agent options

  • FM-200 (HFC-227ea) — fast halocarbon agent, compact storage
  • Novec 1230 (FK-5-1-12) — low-GWP (≈1) halocarbon alternative
  • Inert gases (IG-541 / IG-55 etc.) — extinguish by reducing oxygen; zero GWP

Where it’s used

Data centres, server and telecom rooms, electrical/switchgear and control rooms, archives and museums, MRI/medical imaging rooms.

Standards & environmental note

Designed to NFPA 2001. Note that FM-200/HFC-227ea is a high-GWP agent being phased down (not banned) under the Kigali Amendment — existing systems remain legal to operate and service. For new UAE installs we can specify low-GWP options (Novec 1230 or inert gas) to future-proof.

Frequently asked questions

Is FM-200 banned?

No — it is being phased down because of its high global-warming potential; existing systems remain legal to operate and service. For new installs we can specify low-GWP alternatives.

Why use clean agent instead of sprinklers in a server room?

Clean agent leaves no residue and won’t water-damage electronics, while extinguishing the fire quickly in a sealed room.
